A smile & poem: Set Me Free
I haven't posted anything in a few weeks. I've been working on the music end creating songs. I finally wrote another poem for a song. I was sitting by the cornfields of Core Creek State Park, my mind racing with thoughts of everything I lost. I tried to think of something positive, something to live for. I remembered going to the movies last week, and a beautiful woman looked at me and smiled. This made my night. I was the happiest I've been in a long time, all because of a smile. A haven't dated anyone since 1984. Then I married the wrong woman and had the right child. When this woman smiled at me, I didn't know what to do other than smile back. If she only knew she peeked in at my imprisoned soul. It was like being locked in a dark dungeon with no light and a beautiful face appears at a window surrounded by a golden light. After the encounter, I wondered if I should've talked to her. I long for love, for someone special to set me free from this loneliness that has me in its icy grip.
I'm going to the movies again. Will another woman smile at me, and leave me with hope and dreams of being in love again? Will her smile give me warmth and shine on me with a golden light to lead me out of this dark dungeon I call my soul? A smile. I simple smile. It showed me the light. It gave me hope. Maybe, just maybe, someone's love will set me free from this hell. A smile...
Sitting by the cornfield
Sun is sinking red
Memories running through me
Always in my head
Going to the show tonight
She'll look at me and smile
Makes me feel so good inside
If only for a while
Something to look forward to
To leave the pain behind
I see her come sit with me
If only in my mind
Will she come unlock my door
Does she have the key
Trapped in here for so long now
Will she set me free
Empty me then fill me up
with love and set me free
Hold me tight and drink me up
with love and set me free
Say you love me never stop
with love and set me free
Listen to me, never stop
with love and set me free
